10th Grade Students

Things to think about:

  • Which potential career/post high school option have I considered?
  • What subject am I excelling in?
  • Am I taking courses that lead to my post high school plans?
  • Of my unique talents and strengths, which would I most like to develop?
  • Am I participating in extra curricular activities?
  • Know that colleges look heavily on my sophomore and junior year grades and activities.

Things to do:

  • Take the PSAT in October.  Sign up with Mr. Cardoza or Mrs. Smith.
  • Take strong academic classes and get the best possible grades.
  • Get help along my academic journey if needed.
  • Seek help in note taking if necessary.
  • Maintain strong academic performances and maintain excellent attendance records.
  • Learn what classes are needed to take for graduation.
  • Talk with your teachers, parents, and counselors about course selection for Junior year.
  • Sign up for the college bound course for the fall of next year.
  • Visit Mrs. Smith in the College and Career Center.
  • Continue involvement in extra curricular activities.
  • Review finalized Junior schedule with my EC in June.
  • Take any SAT II test that I have completed the coursework in. (World History, Math, or science)
  • Visit College websites and start the college selection process.
  • Read a variety of materials to strengthen my vocabulary.
  • Plan meaningful activities that will enrich my life.
  • Choose a few careers that might be of interest and explore what they have to offer.
