9th Grade Students
If you are thinking about college as a 9th grader, you are giving yourself an incredible gift. The earlier you start planning your future, the more informed you will be. There are several things to start thinking about early in your high school journey.
Things to Think About:
- Am I taking the correct classes that will lead me to my college goals?
- What are my talents and strengths?
- Am I involved in enough extra-curricular activities to give me a well-rounded education?
- In what areas do I need to build more skills?
Things to do:
- Develop a personal growth plan highlighting academic, extra curricular and community involvement/awards.
- Know my graduation requirements.
- Select a strong high school academic course of study – take tough courses and still maintain excellent attendance records.
- Develop and maintain strong academic performance.
- Have a plan for my sophomore year of classes.
- Visit Mrs. Smith to talk about my post-secondary goals.
- Become involved in an extra-curricular activity, sports, clubs, music, volunteer work, etc. Seek leadership positions and document all work that I am completing.
- Go onto the Bridges website (obtain password from your EC) and see what careers are available to me.
- Read a variety of materials to strengthen my vocabulary.
- Plan meaningful activities that will enrich my life.
- Read about the PSAT and know that I want to take it next fall.
- KEEP GRADES UP!!!
