Community College Early Start Program
One of the many advantages of attending Delta Charter high school is that students can concurrently enroll at a community college and receive credits for both high school and college. One of the great advantages of attending DCHS is our agreement with the community colleges. We understand that this opportunity is to further enhance your educational journey and provide you with the best possible education for your personal needs. You are representing DCHS and especially yourself and we encourage that you use this to enrich your life, not just speed up graduation. Students in grades 9-12 may take classes at the Community Colleges and have the units count for high school credit if they meet the following requirements and considerations:
- Students must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- If a student has a low cumulative GPA but earns a 3.0 in the semester proceeding attending a Community College they can discuss their reasons with Mrs. Lytle and see if an exception is made.
- Students must carry at least 20 Delta Charter High School units.
- Students must remain in good academic standing at DCHS to be considered for renewal. New paperwork must be filled out each semester.
- Students must at least be in the second semester of ninth grade.
- DCHS does not readily approve of taking more than 2 Community College classes per semester. Remember our goal is for you to be successful.
- Students may take a maximum of 11 Community College Units per semester.
- Students may apply for financial aid for Community College classes. The FAFSA form must be turned in by September 2.
- See Mrs. Smith for an early start application. Applications are accepted during the 2nd week of October for spring semester classes and during May for fall courses.
