“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead
In each year of enrollment at Delta Charter High School, a student is required to perform 15 hours of Community Service. Service opportunities are many and varied, and are supervised by the student’s Educational Coordinator (E.C.). Community service activities are activities that students can perform that will benefit someone else; not someone related to them. It is an activity that you do not get paid for. This is a time for you to do something for someone else, to better the community in which you live in. DCHS students are out there making a difference, meeting new friends, learning new skills and improving their community. So what are you waiting for…..do something! This will look great on your resume and college applications and you will be making a difference in someone else’s’ life. The ideas are endless, so use your imagination and work with your EC to get it documented. Some ideas are:
- Participating in school activities that benefit the community
- Collecting items for families in need
- Getting involved with Habitat for humanity
- Cleaning up parks, highways or schools
- Volunteering at an organization, animal shelter, nursing home, schools, library
- Volunteer at your church
- Help out a sports team
