Expectations of a DCHS Parent
Responsibilities of Parents or Home Educator
- To abide by all requirements as outlined in the Master Agreement
- To validate completion of students’ minimum daily academic hours as outlined on his/her Personalized Learning Plan (PLP)
- To ensure your child is meeting the educational goals as outlined in his/her PLP
- To ensure your student completes 100% of his/her PLP goals as outlined by your student’s Educational Coordinator (EC)
- To complete and sign required logs prior to PLP review meeting
- To attend regularly scheduled conferences with your student’s EC regarding the academic and behavioral status of your student
- To schedule and attend monthly, on campus PLP review meetings with your student and EC
- To maintain regular, unsolicited contact with your student’s EC to ensure proactive communication regarding your student
- To become familiar with policies and school rules and regulations
- To cooperate with the school in bringing about improvements designed to enhance the educational program offered to students
- To provide supportive action by making sure that your student does his/her required coursework and/or activities
- To maintain consistent and adequate control of your student and to approve and support reasonable control measures as applied by school personnel
- To provide updates, when changes occur, current information regarding legal address, phone, medical data, and other facts which will help the school to serve your student
- To oversee the daily academic activities of your student
- To validate completion of Daily Educational Planner, provided to your student at time of enrollment, on a daily basis.
- To maintain active email accounts for both your student and yourself
