TESTING

Mandatory Test Administration and Dates

Charter Testing – mandatory assessments administered periodically.

  • Every DCS student must participate in charter school testing.
  • The Basic Academic Skills Inventory (BASI) assessment is administered at the beginning of every school year or at time of enrollment and prior to the end of the academic year.
  • Additional Charter testing may be required pending student assessment needs. Failure to participate in Charter testing may result in un-enrollment.

STAR and CST – mandatory state testing administered once yearly.

  • STAR and CST state test will be administered to all students’ grades 2 – 11.
  • Any student receiving a below basic or far below basic score on the Mathematics and/or English sections of the test will be required to attend on-site preparatory courses at a minimum for 2 semesters or until evidence, via ongoing testing, shows academic progress is at grade level.

California High School Exit Exam (CaHSEE) – mandatory state test administered at least twice yearly and required to achieve a California High School Diploma.

  • The California High School Exit Exam (CaHSEE) will be administered to students by year in school (i.e. 3rd year) in order to offer as many opportunities for the students to take the test as possible.
  • All 3rd and 4th year DCHS students who have not successfully passed both sections (Math and Language Arts) portions of the test will be required to participate in a CAHSEE on-site course twice a week for a minimum of 1 full semester.

Please refer to the current school calendar for key semester dates, Charter and STAR testing schedule and CAHSEE test dates.  If you have any questions, please contact Teresa Wickline or your Educational Coordinator.
